Winter Wheat Unlikely to Change much in the June report – 06/06/2022
Weekly data suggest only a minor change in the US winter wheat yield forecast this month. In May USDA forecast winter wheat planted area abandonment will be the largest since 2014. Not much of abandonment can actually be recovered, but USDA could have been a little too pessimistic last month. Early indications suggest the US spring wheat crop will not be a bumper harvest , but will exceed the disaster of the 2021 crop year.
USDA’s comments and estimates for the European wheat crop, especially the Ukraine, will likely carry more market significance than the domestic production outlook. The June production report is scheduled for June 10.
