Winter Wheat Crop Prospects Dim – 04/11/2023

Published by David Tedrow on

USDA rated just 27% of the US winter wheat crop in good or excellent condition as of 4/09/2023 which is the lowest rating for the comparable week since crop ratings were first published in the mid 1980’s. The rating would suggest a May yield estimate of less than 48 bushels per harvested acre which is well below trend for the yield series. Planted area abandonment will   likely be at the high end of experience further reducing US winter wheat production potential.
