USDA Corn Feed Usage Forecast On the High Side – 03/10/2022
This month the USDA forecast corn feed/residual usage at 5.65 billion bushels. The accompanying scatter study displays the historical corn feed per GCAU as a function of farm level corn price. Note that the USDA corn feed/residual estimate is on the high side of historical experience. It is possible the inflationary pressure on livestock prices will result in stronger feed demand than has been the case in previous years. But that, or a similar upper ward shift in the demand curve may be needed to make the USDA domestic corn feed forecast.
USDA’s March 2022 estimates for average farm corn price and Grain Consuming Animal Units are incorporated in the scatter study.
