Soybean Planted Area

The USDA has scheduled the release of the March planting survey for March 3,.2020. We have developed a model for the March soybean survey based on the harvest to early spring price of soybeans, corn and soybean area the previous year. Cash soybeans in central Illinois have scored a high of $9.43 since harvest and a high of $3.90 for cash corn  in the same location. Using this data the model calculates a March area forecast of 89 million acres. 

In March 2019 farmers indicated they would plant  85 million acres of soybeans. But wet weather reduced actual acreage planted to only 76 million acres.
