Mid November Winter Wheat Assessment

Published by David Tedrow on

USDA reported 46% of the US winter wheat crop was in good or excellent condition on November 15 compared to 52% at the same time a year ago and the past 30 year mid November average of 57%.

In most past years in which the winter wheat crop was rated less than 50% good-excellent prior to dormancy the winter wheat yield fell below the previous year’s level and/or area abandonment increased sharply. The years of harvest 1992 and 2008 were exception years.
