August Vs July Corn Yield Estimates – 07/21/2021

Published by David Tedrow on

This month the USDA estimated this season’s average US corn yield at 179 bushels per harvested acre. The July estimate included in the July WAOB report is based primarily on trend. In August USDA is scheduled (August 12, 2021) to release the first survey based yield estimate. Historically there has been a significant correlation between the change from the July estimate and the August forecast and the mid July corn crop rating which was 65% this season. A 65% rating suggests the August corn yield forecast will be about unchanged from the July trend forecast.
